Poetry and Art Month Book Spotlight

Many works of art and literature are often borne out of a personal or communal traumatic experience. T. S. Eliot's The Waste Land, a five part poem published in 1922, was a response to World War I, one of the most horrific wars at that time. Its disjointed narrative, allusions, and symbols reflected humanity's terror, confusion, and loss of faith in the face of advanced warfare. A stunning modernist epic rife with religious and literary references, The Waste Land remains one of the most important poetic works of the 20th century.
