Black Leaders on Leadership: Conversations with Julian Bond

In the early 1990’s political activist Julian Bond began to collect oral histories of prominent African Americans. The conversations centered on leadership and the speakers originated from diverse areas of American society. Speakers included John Lewis, Clarence Thomas, Eleanor Holmes Norton, Vernon Jordan, Angela Davis, Amiri Baraka, and many others. Students can access the book through the following link.

Julian Bond died on Saturday August 15, 2015. He was 75.

New Issue of New Mexico Historical Review Added to UNT Dallas Library Collection

This month's issue of New Mexico Historical Review contains a new feature called "Historias Pequeñas." The first piece of this feature, "Everybody's Neighbor: Vivian Vance in New Mexico," focuses on actress Vivian Vance who appeared on the I Love Lucy show as Lucy's sidekick and maintained a relationship with Albuquerque's theatre community. Other pieces in this month's issue of the Review include "Courageous Motorists: African American Pioneers on Route 66," "Defrocked and Expelled: The Methodist Church Trial of James J. Stewart," and others.

English Grammar for the Utterly Confused is an excellent guide for all levels of education. The book is divided into five parts dealing with the parts of speech; word use; sentence construction; punctuation, capitalization, and abbreviation; and the combination of all these areas of grammar to communicate well. Each chapter ends with exercises to review your newly acquired knowledge or to simply brush up on your grammar skills.
